First Time Moms Can Geaux Natural
I knew I did not want any interventions done to my baby upon her birth (vaccinations, immediate cord clamping, eye ointment, etc.), and I feared the lack of control over such interventions in a traditional hospital setting. I knew I could have full control over myself and my baby if I went forward with the midwives at the birth house.
Throughout the whole pregnancy, I felt supported physically, emotionally, and spiritually at each of my appointments. The care was not only for the baby, but for me as well. Also, the education patients receive regarding pregnancy, delivery, postpartum, and the newborn stage is so helpful and reassuring.
At exactly 41 weeks pregnant, I went into labor at my home around 8:00 pm. I labored at home and even took a nap through the contractions because I was so exhausted. At 3:00 am, I called Jamie and my doula, Jenny, and said my water had broken. We all met at the birth house at 3:30 am. I labored there without any intervention with the support of my husband, Jamie, and Jenny, and delivered my beautiful baby girl at 7:01 am. My husband and I were able to calmly bond with our baby in a peaceful setting, without any chaos or interruptions. She was immediately placed on my chest and has rarely left ever since. I was home in my bed by 10:00 am, with no pain and riding a high like I’ve never known. My baby took to breastfeeding right away and has had no sleeping issues, stomach issues, bonding issues—not so much as a diaper rash. Jamie was there for me throughout the entire pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum. Not only was the entire experience calm and precious, but I was also able to fully control the environment and what was done to me and my baby at all times, which was my main objective.
I’m forever grateful for Jamie and the staff at the birth house for giving me the birth I dreamed of. She was so knowledgeable about the medical side of everything, but so supportive and maternal on the emotional side of it. I’d do it again 100 times over.
Thank you!
