Meet the Midwives
Our midwives serve mothers and babies with a unique blend of a modernized healthcare approach rooted in traditional midwifery values. Her holistic approach to pregnancy focuses on the NORMALCY of pregnancy and birth, as well as the prevention of complications through wellness.
Midwife Kira CPM,LM

After two-plus years of nursing school at The University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Kira instead decided to pursue midwifery education at Aviva Institute for Maternal-Child Health. While in midwifery school in 2009 she began serving women as a doula in the hospital and apprenticing with local midwives in both a birth center and homebirth setting. In 2013, she obtained her Midwifery License from the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners and Certified Professional Midwife certification from North American Registry of Midwives. Since 2013, her professional practice experience includes montrice services, midwifery practices in both homebirth and freestanding birth centers and clinical staff midwifery for Acadiana OBGYN.
Having founded two of the five freestanding birth centers in Louisiana, Kira serves our birth community not only as a midwife but also as a competent entrepreneur who loves advocating for natural birth. She has strong skills in midwifery, teaching and public speaking supported by a professional profile which includes being a YouTube Content Creator and Social Media Influencer best known as CajunStork.
Midwife Jamie APRN, CNM
Practice Manager | Midwife
After completing four years in the US Navy, Midwife Jamie then graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as a Registered Nurse in 1999. She served as a labor and delivery nurse at Women’s and Children’s Hospital for 17 years, through which time she had the opportunity to serve women and advocate for better birth experiences for them. Overtime she felt a calling to make a greater difference in the healthcare of birthing women in Acadiana and began to pursue becoming a Certified Nurse Midwife.
In 2021, Jamie graduated with a Masters of Science in Nurse Midwifery from Frontier University truly expecting to serve women birthing in the hospital setting but instead found a deep love of the freestanding birth center model of midwifery. She is a kind and competent midwife that enjoys the relationship-based model of midwifery. Through a wealth of experience obtained through her 1200 hospital births assists she is not only able to help clients remain healthy and low-risk but also seamlessly transfers her knowledge into the prenatal and birth environment in a way that empowers women while sharing in their joy!

After nearly a decade in teaching and academia, Mira followed her calling into midwifery. Since 2017, she has served as a full-spectrum doula, Indigenous childbirth educator, and now a midwife. Her training included apprenticeships with traditional Nahua and Ndé parteras in low-resource settings, as well as licensed and certified-nurse midwives in birth centers, blending time-honored wisdom with emergency skills. She earned her Certified Professional Midwife credential in 2024 and ran a homebirth practice in Texas before joining The Natural BirthHouse in January 2026.
For Mira, midwifery is both a birthright and a cultural calling. Rooted in a deep connection to the land and the sacred, she weaves ancestral knowledge with evidence-based care, empowering every mother to make truly informed decisions about her pregnancy and birth.
